Pillar of New York - 2018
Pillars of New York
On June 20th, the Preservation League honored engineers extraordinaire Silman, preservation heroine Franny Eberhart and entrepreneur/place maker Michael Bruno with the Pillar of New York Award at the Rainbow Room in New York City.
Historic preservation isn’t just about the past – it’s really about the future.
In fact, the notion of taking novel approaches to preservation is what makes the 2018 Pillar of New York honorees standouts in their respective fields.
Each, in his or her own way, is an agent of change. Each has brought creative and bold thinking to the challenge of preserving our historic resources.
By applying the strategies of collaboration, entrepreneurship and innovation, tonight’s honorees have demonstrated a deep respect for our heritage. At the same time, their visionary leadership has imbued our historic resources with new life, so they may continue to illuminate, inform and inspire.
Our past truly has a great future in the talented hands of these individuals.
Each year the League presents its most prestigious commendation, The Pillar of New York Award, to those who have demonstrated a keen understanding of the value of New York’s historic resources by taking extraordinary actions to protect, preserve, and promote those assets. Join the League to receive invitations to this and other special events.
