Speak Up for Federal Historic Preservation Investment
This Advocacy Alert is reposted from the National Trust for Historic Preservation
The President’s Budget Request for the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) for FY 2027 would slash the HPF almost entirely — a devastating blow to the people and programs that safeguard our shared heritage. But the President’s Budget Request is just that: a request. The power to determine funding levels lies with Congress. Lawmakers are currently working through the appropriations process to determine annual funding levels for the many agencies and programs within the federal government, including the HPF. The HPF is the principal source of funding for SHPOs, THPOs, and competitive grant programs.
Congress needs to hear from you.
📢 Take Action Today. Encourage your members of Congress to robustly fund the HPF in FY 2027 to support preservation to tell the full American story.
